The starting point of this piece lies whiten the homonymous literary work Ideias para adiar o fim do mundo (“Ideas to postpone the end of the world”) by the Brazilian philosopher and environmentalist Ailton Krenak (1953), a book compiled from interviews and lectures by the author. These texts call for a reconnection with nature and a fondness for the creative impulse as humanity means of escape from self-destruction.

Apart from an application of the chapter titles – “Ideias para adiar o fim do mundo” (“Ideas to postone the end of the world”), “Do sonho e da terra” (“From the dream and from the earth”) and “A humanidade que pensamos ser” (“The humanity we think we are”) – as cryptographic macro and microstructures for the various sections of the piece, the nearly rhythmic heartbeat aims to recollect ritualistic musical practices.

Krenak argues that our lack of purpose is brought forth by our abstraction from the world, the loss of the pleasure of dancing, singing, living, as he justifies his story telling tendency, and each of his own stories, as just one more aiming to postpone the end of the world; this piece is just one more such story.
